Newsletter May 2000

April 2000, wettest April ever? It has indeed been both wet and relatively cold. It is the first time in our 12 years we have used the fireplace in April! ;-|

We did need the water badly, but it was poor timing in what was probably the busiest April ever....

Improvement in traffic conditions? Many residents and visitors alike have been suffering long queues in the Carvoeiro / Lagoa junction, there is now a traffic light / roundabout combination which hopefully will ease traffic. Otherwise the Via do Infante motorway extension from Guia to Alcantarilha should open in June 2000, the new exit/entry point is between Alcantarilha and Porches.

It now seems that the Via do Infante extension to Lagoa (Lagos) as well as the completion of the Motorway to Lisbonne has become a top priority for the government,  dates as early as 2002/2003 have been mentioned (it is not the first time though...:-)

Two Gigantic shopping malls are under construction as well, one just opposite Makro on the EN 125 in Guia and another in Faro, also on the EN 125 a couple of kilometers from town going towards the airport. More news as for opening dates as soon as available!

Otherwise... I just have to say it; an average of more than 1.100 unique visitors per day in April 2000, it really makes me happy!
