The craggy cliffs, clam waters and location in the centre of Carvoeiro make this beach a firm favourite.

Being the hub of the town this is popular with people staying in the area looking for a gentle walk onto the sand, with young families who want to avoid the perils of steps onto a beach and locals who come down before or after work for a quick dip.

Toilets and shower facilities are free for beach users to make the most of and there is a small beach hut selling beach essentials of ice creams and drinks.

Simply lay down your towel on the sand or hire a lounger and shade if you are there for the day.

There is also the opportunity to take a boat trip around the caves from the beach or to take part in water sports during the high season.

This beach can get very busy during the summer months but do not be tempted to sunbathe under the cliffs as the warning signs clearly state that this is dangerous.

A family favourite that still retains its charms and is a must for photographers looking to capture a perfect Algarve sunset over the cliffs.
